Armanino Welcomes New Partner Darcy Kooiker to National Tax Team

Addition Brings Deeper Expertise as Sales and Use Tax Issues Get More Complex

SAN RAMON, Calif. (July 20, 2020) – Armanino LLP, one of the 25 largest accounting and business consulting firms in the U.S., announced today it has welcomed accounting professional Darcy Kooiker to the firm as a partner in its tax practice. Kooiker specializes in sales and use tax issues, a growing concern for clients as e-commerce and interstate commerce grows exponentially, and municipalities find more creative ways to generate revenue.

“We are very happy to have Darcy join the team and deepen our expertise in sales and use tax issues,” said Matt Armanino, CEO of Armanino. “The firm is committed to identifying experts and leaders like Darcy in order to ensure we have the depth of knowledge needed by a complex and ever changing market.”

Since recent court rulings have allowed states to charge sales tax to out-of-state businesses operating across state lines, it has never been more important to ensure compliance with sales and use tax regulations. Armanino’s sales and use tax specialists know the complexities associated with multistate sales and use tax compliance. The firm has the practical experience and technical knowledge to understand how these laws apply to companies in different locations and industries—especially SaaS and technology.

Kooiker concentrates on helping companies of all sizes, in a diverse range of industries, navigate the complexities of municipal and state sales and use tax rules. She began her career as an auditor for the Washington State Department of Revenue and at PwC’s state and local tax practice.

Just prior to joining Armanino, Kooiker was the Seattle Office Managing Partner at Ryan, LLC and previously led the SALT group at Bernston Porter & Company, PLLC. She has served as an adjunct professor at Gonzaga University and was appointed to the Business Advisory Council by the Director of the Washington State Department of Revenue. Kooiker received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Washington and her master’s certificate in state and local taxation from the University of Wisconsin. She is a member of the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants.
