Bio
Bill has over 35 years of progressive international, multi-state, corporate and partnership tax experience. He has built, reorganized and directed both in-house and public accounting tax departments. He has extensive experience in mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations of companies and partnerships, with an emphasis on saving federal and state income taxes. Bill is well-versed in international and multi-state taxation issues and laws, and has successfully managed and negotiated numerous IRS, FTB and other state tax audits.
Bill received a B.B.A. in accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Board of Accountancy, and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Experience
The tax environment is evolving. In the future, the compliance aspect of tax will just be a commodity. Compliance is going to be replaced with more artificial intelligence, so the real value of being in tax is the relationship, advice and strategy that we can provide to our clients to reach short- and long-term goals.
Leaving California and all our friends and family to move to Texas. It was the best decision we could have made for the family, and it's paid off tenfold; all our family members have been successful in Texas. My wife now says Texas is our home, and I say no, California is our home, Texas is where we live now.
One of my longest clients is an oncology group that has been with me since I moved to Texas. Theirs is an industry that requires a lot of compassion and a lot of heart. Every single person up and down the organization, from the doctors to the nurses to the finance team, are wonderful, caring people. It's always inspiring to be around them, because they care about their fellow human beings. In the toughest times, they bring out the light in people.
Our biggest asset is our team members. Making changes to the culture that might drive those people away, that's what keeps me up at night. I've helped restructure this department over the years, to make things better for all of us without changing the environment that drew me here in the first place, and I want to make sure that feeling of family within this office remains.
I'm demanding, but empowering. I want people to learn. I love to see someone's eyes light up with understanding. I always worked with positive, encouraging people who said, you're smart, you can figure this out. They empowered me to learn, and now I try to do the same. I give my people the tools to do the job, and then I step back and guide.
My grandfather. I was the youngest grandson, so I was his favorite. As soon as I was old enough, he'd pick me up and take me along on trips with him. He not only taught me how to fish, he taught me that your word is your bond. Live by what you say and do what you say. I try to live that every day.
Professionally, a man named Brad Hall. Prior to coming here, I worked for him for two years in California. He helped ground me. Everyone else was chasing money, but Brad was about life and people. He taught me to slow down, and refocused me on what's important in life—family, friends, community.
