Meet Robert

Robert has practiced as a certified public accountant (CPA) and business manager on an exclusive basis for over 30 years.  He spent the first 14 years of his career with several CPA/business management firms in Los Angeles, working with a diverse clientele. He then ran his own firm for more than two decades before joining Armanino, where he provides financial management, wealth protection and business consulting services for the entertainment industry, small business owners and high net worth individuals.

A member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Robert is also a registered investment adviser (RIA). He holds a B.A. in business administration from the University of South Florida.

Q. What is it about accounting and consulting profession that first drew your interest?
I went to college to become an accountant, and after graduation discovered business management at my first job. The ability to work with talented entertainment industry professionals managing their day-to-day financial lives while helping them secure their futures is so rewarding. It’s outside of the box of traditional accounting, and it allows you to build rewarding relationships with great people.
Q. What was it that drew you to Armanino?
The ability to work in a dynamic environment with multiple resources, giving me the ability to work with clients in many different industries, and having the proper support to meet their needs. There’s strength in numbers.
Q. What is the toughest decision you have ever made?
Defining a life path for myself. I’m very analytical and contemplative, and building a life path required that I really think out where I wanted to be 20 to 30 years down the road. The greatest experience in life is experience, which is why I help my clients build their own financial life paths. It can be challenging, but it’s vital to creating a secure future.
Q. Describe your work style.
Authentic. I have a couple of words I call “power words,” and authenticity is one of them. If you understand the qualities of authentic people, you have a roadmap to success in anything you do. Work authentically.
Q. What’s your proudest moment?
It would have to be when my children graduated college, got jobs immediately and became responsible and authentic young adults.
Q. Who is (or was) the most influential person in your life
David Geffen. He was a client of the first firm I worked at. Without knowing it, he taught me what I could be. He’s someone with no college education, who started out in the mailroom at a talent agency and is now on the Forbes 100 list. I watched it all firsthand.
