Meet Cody

Cody has over 10 years of experience in public accounting. He has worked in various client advisory and operations management roles, and has been deeply involved in setting and executing firm strategy, practice building, leading operational teams, client relationship management and managing transformation initiatives.

He is a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association and the American Institute of Certified Professional Accountants and holds a B.S. in management information systems from Western Washington University.

Q&A
Q. What role do you play at the firm?
My background is in technology and process improvement, and I joined the Tax department to help guide strategic initiatives and lead our efforts to identify and utilize the best accounting technologies and optimize our business processes. That way, we can ensure that our tax clients benefit from advancements in technology and receive the highest level of service possible.
Q. What was it that drew you to Armanino?
I've seen the exciting technological changes that are on the horizon for the accounting profession, and I believe firms that leverage those changes will be able to help drive strategy and value for their clients. Armanino's leadership has a vision and a plan that aligns with my own, and I knew I wanted to be a part of that push for the future.
Q. How will technology drive value for our clients?
Technology allows our clients to make smarter, more strategic decisions by giving them access to better information. They can integrate multiple sources of data from across their tech stack to produce actionable insights and visuals that are easy for everyone to understand, whether or not they have a finance background. It frees up business owners, CFOs and management teams to pursue high-value initiatives that will help their companies grow.
Q. Describe your work style.
I believe in building relationships and soliciting input from people at every level of the organization, not just partners. Once I’ve gotten that input, I like to come to a conclusion quickly and then execute. That way, if we’ve made mistakes in our decision process, we can identify them early and move to correct them.
Q. What’s your proudest moment?
The birth of my two daughters.
Q. Who is (or was) the most influential person in your life?
My dad taught me the value of building relationships, and as an entrepreneur and business owner, he modeled for me the real definition of grit and resilience.
Q. If you could pass on a nugget of wisdom to aspiring accountants or consultants, what would that be?
As technology continues to automate the profession, staying focused on building relationships, solving business problems and keeping an entrepreneurial mindset will be more critical than ever.
