Armanino Bolsters Nonprofit Tax Practice with 30-Year Veteran


John M. Panetta Joins Firm

SAN RAMON, Calif. (September 3, 2014) – Armanino LLP, the largest independent accounting and business consulting firm based in California, announced today that John M. Panetta has joined the firm as Tax Director in the nonprofit practice area effective immediately.

John has provided a wide variety of tax, business and consulting services for tax-exempt organizations including income tax planning, IRS/state tax audit representation, assistance with legislative activity, multi-corporate transaction planning, and domestic and foreign expenditure planning for private foundations.

John was previously associated with Burr Pilger Mayer, as well as PwC and KPMG, where he led the Western Area Exempt Organizations Tax Practice for both companies. Additionally, he served with the Exempt Organizations Branch of the IRS National Office.

John received an undergraduate degree and a master’s in law and taxation from Georgetown University, as well as a Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami. A frequent lecturer, he has served as an adjunct faculty member of the School of Taxation at Golden Gate University and as a visiting lecturer at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.
